Botox

Botox® is a brand name for a neurotoxin protein called botulinum toxin. When injected into muscles, it temporarily paralyzes or weakens the muscles in the injected area. This effect is particularly useful in cosmetic procedures, where Botox is commonly used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face.

The results of Botox injections typically last for a few months, after which the procedure can be repeated if desired.

Similar results can be expected with other brands such as Dysport and Jeuveau, as they have the same indication- to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face.

FAQs

Typically, Botox results may last 3-6 months. The effects vary from person to person and wear off gradually.

The cost of botox varies depending on the location and the amount used, but it typically ranges from $300 to $1,500 per treatment.

Botox works best preventatively. When your facial expressions form folds (dynamic wrinkles) in your skin that begin to leave residual creases (static wrinkles), it would be a good time to begin thinking of interventions. The recovery time for botox is typically minimal, with most people returning to normal activities immediately after the procedure. There is a risk of swelling and bruising post-treatment. You will receive more detailed pre/post-care instructions upon scheduling an appointment.

For maintenance, you would want to come in every 3-4 months for neurotoxin and during those visits we can check on your filler as well. Keep in mind that every person metabolizes both products differently and in different time frames.

It is likely that you are not getting enough units or you may need to try a different product.

Botox works by temporarily paralyzing muscles to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, while dermal fillers add volume and hydration to the skin to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Botox is also used to treat a variety of medical conditions. In our office, we treat for aesthetic concerns as well as TMJ/jaw clenching or hyperhidrosis/excessive underarm sweating.
